The Boom Days
The great natural gas boom in Northwest Ohio in the late 188Os and early 189Os attracted many glass manufacturing companies to the area.
In Fostoria, the best known was the Fostoria Glass Company whose products, even today, enjoy a worldwide reputation for quality.
But other glass companies blossomed and bloomed in the city. They included the Mambourg Glass Company, Calcine Glass Company, Novelty Glass Company, Seneca Glass Company, Mosaic Glass Company, Buttler Art Glass Company, Nickel Plate Glass Company, Fostoria Glass Specialty Company, Fostoria Shade and Lamp Company, and Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company.
Visit
The Past
Today, the visitor can see over 1,3OO examples of glass which craftsmen produced in 13 different Fostoria, Ohio, glass plants from 1S87 to 1920. These items are on display at the Fostoria Glass Heritage Gallery, located in the Fostoria Town Center.
See examples of beautiful hand painted lamps, unique patterns of crystal bowls and glasses, striking examples of Mosaic art glass, novelty glass, and other
remnants from the glory days of glass manufacturing in Fostoria, Ohio.
Of course, the Heritage Gallery has a fine collection of Fostoria Glass. See the unique collection including examples of one of the first patterns called "Cascade."
The collector or the casual visitor will want to spend many hours
exploring the glass collection at the Heritage Gallery.
